Sheriff Staley Helps Rebuild New Orleans Officer's Home
Roscommon County Sheriff Francis Staley and 42 other law enforcement officers spent 5 days during February this year rebuilding a home belonging to a New Orleans Police Officer.  This home was nearly destroyed 2 1/2 years ago at the hands of hurricane Katrina.  Since the hurricane hit, Sgt. Jay Vitrano, a 25 year veteran of the New Orleans Police Dept. had been staying in this house, sleeping on only a cot and the only convenience was a toilet.

America's Most Wanted was on hand to film the rebuild and it was shown on their program Feb 23, 2008.

Cops Helping Cops, based in Hersey, MI has rebuilt 20 plus homes belonging to New Orleans Police officers. This organization is funded by donations only and at this time are in need of additional funding.
